However, due to a handicapping system in place at the time, the race was ultimately won by a Blackburn Bluebird rather than the Widgeon II.

Transition to Production

Despite its innovative features and capabilities, production numbers for all variants of the Widgeon remained low due to high manufacturing costs compared to competing aircraft of similar roles.
